Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine has thrown his support — and hair — behind Republican primary contender Rick Santorum.
In an interview with Music Radar posted Tuesday, the metal rocker said he was once leaning toward Newt Gingrich, but now he just sees the former House speaker as an “angry little man.”
“Earlier in the election, I was completely oblivious as to who Rick Santorum was, but when the dude went home to be with his daughter when she was sick, that was very commendable,” Mustaine told the website. “Also, just watching how he hasn’t gotten into doing these horrible, horrible attack ads like Mitt Romney’s done against Newt Gingrich, and then the volume at which Newt has gone back at Romney… You know, I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I’m hoping that if it does come down to it, we’ll see a Republican in the White House… and that it’s Rick Santorum.”
As of noon today, Santorum led Mitt Romney 30.8 to 29.2 percent in RealClearPolitics’ national polling average.

Gotta say this much: No matter your feelings on ol’ Rick, Dave basically pinpointed the humanizing aspects which make a lot of people respect Santorum more than Mitt.
Someone please tell me I accidentally woke up in an alternate universe today, because seriously, WTF.
