Spooky Sounds, Day 5: White Zombie - Children of the Grave

I’ve always liked White Zombie, but I still think this is the best song they’ve ever done (that they didn’t write).

I’m a sucker for good covers, and a good cover means the band needs to make the song theirs as much as those who played it first. White Zombie did just that with this tune, changing it from an anti-war, pro-pacifism anthem to a demented homage to the Manson Family. All it took was a few news clips and one strategic word switch in the last line of the lyrics.

Al Jourgensen & 1,000 Homo DJ’s cover of “Supernaut” is one of my favorite covers/tracks ever, though.

As long as you have an ear for industrial music you can’t go wrong with a Ministry cover of a song.

Dude.

Also have Amon Amarth covering “Children of the Grave,” though the song doesn’t really pickup until the end when they start implementing their trademark tremolos.

I’m still partial to the White Zombie version.

Today’s Music Monday is holy shit I didn’t know anyone besides Al Jourgensen Turisas covered this.
