Spooky Sounds, Day 3: Dragonlord - Born to Darkness
Another track that I wanted to save for later but we might as well start strong.

Dragonlord started out as a side project by Testament guitarist Eric Peterson. While he often seems overshadowed by fellow Testament guitarist and occasional jazzman Alex Skolnik, Peterson fronts Dragonlord and, along with Nevermore’s Steve Smyth, is the primary creative force of the band. While Testament has had a fairly consistent career since the 80’s, it wasn’t clear if Dragonlord were going to survive much longer after the release of their second album, Black Wings of Destiny. Fortunately, they were signed to Spinefarm/Universal earlier this year*, and a third album is in the works.

This is my favorite track from their first album, Rapture. The piano melody and riffs have nice grooves that still compliment the symphonic gloom.

*Dang, almost wish I was still there.

superchalmers reblogged your video: Today’s Music Monday is holy shit I didn’t know…
Its on the special edition of their new album, I think? (Along with a fantastico cover of Jethro Tulls “Broadsword”)

On the topic of Jethro Tull covers, here’s some Dragonlord:
